Using a split reel allows film to be shipped or handled in a lighter and smaller form than film would on a “fixed” reel. In silent film terminology, two films on one reel.

== Information about material ==
The plates of this product are made of untreated aluminum. As a result, fingerprints, etc. can be seen.
To counteract these fingerprints, solutions are possible.
1) Treating aluminum (anodizing): many colors possible, weight remains light
2) Using stainless steel plates: even stronger, disadvantage: 3 times heavier than aluminum.
If you are interested in these modifications, please get in touch. Please note, the price will then be about a factor 2 higher, we can only do this for larger orders.
The stated number of meters that will fit on this reel is based on an estimate based on normal celluloid film without sound.
In the case of another type of film (eg thinner single8 film), or film with a magnetic sound track, the number of meters of films may differ.
