Resolutions for Digitizing Slides

You can choose from 3 different resolutions: 2000 DPI, 3000 DPI, and 4000 DPI. The higher the resolution, the more pixels the digital image contains. This means that the photo will remain sharp on a large screen and can be printed at a larger size.

Our process

Security – we digitise everything in-house

We digitise everything ourselves at our own location in Tilburg. The digital files are stored securely on our own servers and kept for at least two months.

Each sled, suitcase, or box is assigned a unique number

Each slide tray, case, or box is labeled with a sticker bearing a unique number during intake. The desired order is followed. This number is also used as the file name. The slides are scanned in the order they appear in the tray.

Digitisation in the highest quality

We use professional scanners. For 35mm slides we use the Nikon Coolscan 5000ED. The slide scanners have a true optical resolution of 4000 DPI. The Digital ICE4 Advanced™ automatic correction function automatically removes scratches, damage and fingerprints from slides. Our scanners are the best tested in many independent tests.

You can edit the files yourself afterwards.

We can deliver just about all common formats. We normally use JPEG format. This gives a very good quality while the files don’t get too large.

We can also transfer the sliedes in uncompressed format, such as TIFF. We do not charge any extra costs for this. This format is often used in professional printing. However, this format creates much larger files: with a 35mm negative scan at 4000 DPI, a TIFF file is about 70 MB in size.
