Input: Set of AVI footage files
Output: Adobe Premiere project representing the movie
Insert the AVI files in
Adobe Premiere and select the useful
parts of the video material.
To save hard disk space
you can trim the project (File, Tools, Project Trimmer) and select "copy trimmed
source files". This copies all used footage in your project to seperate AVI files.
Not used footage is not copied. After this operation you can continue editing on the
trimmed project and delete the original one.
Based on the useful video material figure out a script for the movie (like scronological / including flashbacks or other stories). An example of a script for a movie on a snooker-game can be: - drive to cafe - start playing - play 15 bad shots - drink beer - play 15 very good shots - end game - drive home.
Based on the script defined in the previous step put the footage in the right order and (if necessary) delete useless parts of the footage.
Where needed add video-filters to some footage (for example apply the brighten filter to some dark parts of the movie). Also add transitions between parts of the movie.
Don't use to many different
transitions in too many places. This makes a messy impression. The "cross
dissolve" transition can be used for most of the transitions. Other transitions can
be of great help between different parts of the story. For example in the snooker-game
script use the "cross dissolve" transition between each shot and other
transitions between the different story elements.

When using different aspect
ratios for the final movie (for example for producing resolutions of 360x540 for MIRO
DC-10 output and 352x288 for video-CDs), NEVER check the 'maintain aspect ratio'
properties of titles or images. Maintain aspect ratio will produce different results for
these outputs. Before importing images into the project, resize the canvas size of the
image to a ratio of (4x3), for example 720x540.

Music and sound effect are added as WAV files on the audio-tracks in
Adobe Premiere. Music from audio CDs can
be directly converted to WAV files using
Windac or
Golden Hawk
MIDI files can be added to
the project by converting them to WAV files with the
Wingroove tool.
MP3 / Real audio
files can be added to the project by converting them to WAV files with
Winamp. Note that for real audio files an
additional plugin for Winamp is needed, the innover's RealAudio Plugin v 1.5.
